A Lot More Than Health Care – Student Loan Rates of 6.8 Percent Versus Access to Affordable Health Care? In America? Outrageous!

This Post has been updated May 10, 2012

CAROLE G. IN ATLANTA SAYS:  PERSONALLY, I DO NOT KNOW WHY IT IS SO DIFFICULT TO GET HEALTH CARE FOR ALL AMERICANS, IN AMERICA. OTHER COUNTRIES, EVEN THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES, HAVE MANAGED TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR SICK AND SUFFERING.

WHY DON’T SOME HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONALS AND INSURANCE COMPANIES WANT THE GOVT. TO REGULATE OR AUDIT THEM? THEY HAVE BEEN GETTING AWAY WITH EXPLOITING THE CONSUMER LONG ENOUGH. WHY CAN’T THEY UNDERSTAND THAT THE COST OF HEALTHCARE IN AMERICA HAS REACHED CATASTROPHIC LEVELS AND WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT OTHERWISE IT IS THE ONE THING THAT CAN TRULY BANKRUPT THE COUNTRY?  THAT, AND THE WARS THAT WERE STARTED BY THE BUSH GOV’T THAT HAVE US BOGGED DOWN.

WE CANNOT AFFORD TO STAY IN THESE WARS, AND WE ALMOST CANNOT AFFORD TO LEAVE. GOD KNOWS WE HAVE SPENT BILLIONS IN THESE WARS AND I DO NOT HEAR ANYONE COMPLAINING. AS A MATTER OF FACT, THE SAME PEOPLE CRYING NO HEALTH CARE FOR THE MASSES ARE THE SAME ONES SAYING ‘SEND MORE TROOPS TO WAR AT THE EXPENSE OF OUR ECONOMY.’

THE ONES WHO SAY WE ARE KILLING UNBORN BABIES AT HOME, ARE THE SAME ONES SAYING SEND OUR BABIES TO GIVE THEIR LIVES IN A WAR BASED ON LIES. (NOT TO MENTION THE UNTOLD INNOCENT PEOPLE OF IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN.) WE ARE IN A VERY DIFFICULT SITUATION,  BUT IF AMERICANS DO NOT DIE IN WARS THEY WILL CERTAINLY DIE, AND ARE CERTAINLY DYING AT HOME FROM SICKNESS AND TOO MANY DRUGS BEING PUMPED INTO THEIR BODIES AND FROM LACK OF CARE. COME ON!!!! DO NOT THINK OF YOUR POCKETS ONLY, HAVE A HEART FOR HUMANITY.  DRUG MANUFACTURERS DO NOT WANT HEALTH CARE REFORM. THEY WANT UNLIMITED PROFITS. WHERE ARE THE ETHICS THEY PRINCIPLES WE HEAR SO MUCH ABOUT? WHERE ARE THE CONSERVATIVE  CHRISTIAN VALUES?

WRITE TO YOUR SENATOR AND EVERY ELECTED OFFICIAL IN YOUR STATE. URGE THEM TO PASS HEALTH CARE REFORM. DO NOT ALLOW THE FILTHY RICH TO DICTATE WHAT HAPPENS TO THE POOR. VETERANS RETURNING FROM IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN ARE BEING DENIED HEALTH CARE DUE TO BUREAUCRATIC FOUL UPS. PLEASE DO NOT ALLOW THE OPPRESSORS TO WIN.

UPDATE POSTED MAY 10, 2012:  Sadly, the oppressors have won.  Now Health Care Reform is in the hands of the Supreme Court. In the hands of a justice who mouthed that the President is a liar during the State of the Union address.  A Supreme Court where a majority of the justices seem to care less about what is ethical, fair and honest jurisprudence and more about what is philosophical doctrine.  We only have to visit some of the health clinics in poor innercity neighborhoods in many areas of America to see the devastating effects of a lack of health care; the effects of health care out of the reach of poor and lower incomed Americans.  Many of the one percenters need to take a trip into some parts of innercity America.   This week Republicans want to strip away more of the access to health care for poor Americans  by holding hostage the loan rates for college students.  They will NOT vote to prevent the student loan rate from doubling from the now 3.4 to 6.8 percent unless they are allowed to strip away some of the key benefits of health care reform!!!  How can people who call themselves principled, christians, conservatives, etc. etc., do so much to prevent students from lower income families to access a college education?  How can they hold the health of average Americans hostage?

When President Obama was first elected Republican leader, Mitch McConnell said: “The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.”

Again in July 2011, as reported  by Matt Schneider | 5:42 pm, July 10th, 2011 Mr. McConnell restated his position:  Sen. McConnell: Making Obama A One-Term President Is My Single Most Important Political Goal.”   This is at a time when the country is in a deep recession, something that the Republicans did nothing about except to fight as hard as they could and can to protect the vast wealth of the one percenters in America.  Nothing seems to be more important to the Republican leadership than prevent the wealthiest Americans from paying their fair share of taxes, getting the largest return on their investments, keeping President Obama from being re-elected and keeping America a very divided nation of very rich, a small middleclass and a massive amount of poor underclass.

In Mc Connell’s interview on Fox News as reported here:  ”Although Republican Senator Mitch McConnell was slightly unsure whether any of his Republicans colleagues seriously don’t want to raise the debt ceiling, he was on much firmer ground regarding his own future political goals. On Fox News Sunday, Bret Baier asked him if he stands by his previous statement that “the single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term President.” McConnell confirmed that his goal remains unchanged.

Mr. McConnell and his wealthy friends should be compelled to take a drive through some parts of America to see what his votes and the fights he is leading are doing to hard-working, God-fearing, decent Americans.  The kind of people he claims to like; the kinds of people who vote for him and the Tea Party members.  In their Ivory Towers they have no idea (and we don’t believe for one minute that they care) about how these lofty, arrogant, oppressive, partisan positions they advocate affect millions of average Americans.  What is the difference between killing people with guns and tanks and killing them with hunger, denial of access to health care, education and a better life?  With the three latter  the death is far more painful because first we are deprived of hope, and we witness the fact that we are helpless against the powers in the Congress.  The lobbyists and the weapons they use — the weapons we the people elected to advocate for us.  Second the death is dragged out, prolonged over a life-time.  Instead they advocate for the wealthiest Americans.  There are Third World conditions right here in First World America.  Outrageous!!! Learn more about the need for health care reform and what it means to average Americans, and the importance of the student loans staying at 3.4percent.  See a few web resources below:
