OneWorld Recommends: 'The New Jim Crow' by Michelle Alexander

In an excerpt from her new book, The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness, Michelle Alexander argues that prison has become the tool to minimize black political power. She also says - "We have not ended racial caste in America, we have merely redesigned it."

This is a book worth reading more than once. Sadly, the caste system is not necessarily about whites and blacks. Read a comprehensive review of this book and learn more about Michelle Alexander. OneWorld has done an essential compilation for you.

The video links below are intended to encourage OneWorld visitors

to explore their own perceptions and beliefs about others.

Each link below takes visitors to a different type of experience about conscious and mostly unconscious prejudices, perceptions, beliefs and practices we might not only be unconscious of, but that we wish NOT to explore.   Most often we are unaware of what influences our judgments and behaviors; this accounts for the strong denials many of us proclaim when we are called to account for our
Demonstrated or Implicit prejudices.
